Crafting Summary

Hello Everyone!

How are you all this weekend? I'm well and have been keeping busy. Have had lots to make, I just keep finding so many exciting bits and pieces I'm really keen to create! It's predominantly been about crochet this month - I'm obsessed.

I've finally learnt to read patterns - I was making things using YouTube videos before, but it suddenly just clicked with reading them. I feel so stupidly proud of myself! So the first thing I made from reading a pattern was my foxy hat -

Which my sister stole very quickly!

I must admit - she looks much better in it than I do! Just beautiful :)

So now I'm reading patterns, it has opened up a world of crocheting opportunities to me. I've also discovered Ravelry now too, which just amazes me. There are so many talented people there who are generous enough to share their fantastic patterns. The crochet item which was top of my list to make was a fox scarf, I'd seen one previously on Instagram and had set myself the goal to make one myself. So, I paid for a pattern on Ravelry and got going. I took my time with it because I wanted him to be perfect. Here are the results....

I just love his little face! I made the nose myself using the needle felting technique, which scares the life out of me! That needle is scary! Anyway, I've been wearing him with pride, and been getting lots of compliments! He's also very warm and snugly.

I've been busy also designing new brooches to sell, I've had some orders which makes me so happy - so thank you if you've bought one from me! The brooches are £1.50 each plus £1 postage.

Really hope you like my brooches too, I'm open to new ideas from you and can have a go at illustrating your ideas - just get in touch!

I'd also like to say a HUGE 'Thank You' to every lovely one of you who bought one of my crochet poppies for the British Legion. I managed to raise £120 and I'm so overwhelmed by your generosity, you really are lovely people.

Right, that's it from me people! Thanks for taking the time to read my blog, I appreciate it.  I opened a Facebook page this week, so take a look at that here for regular updates from me - www.facebook.com/thefoxsburrow

Lots of love, Kerry xx

Feeling Inspired

Hello Again Everyone!

I hope you have all been well and busy crafting!

This post is a little different for me, but something I wanted to write about. As most of you know, I am a huge fan of Instagram. I'm always looking for inspiring people to follow and last week came across the lovely Louise @louisealexandra78 who is doing something extra special for charity...

Lou will be running the London Marathon on behalf of the Anthony Nolan Trust team on 13th April 2014, which will be a year after her father received his stem cell transplant. Lou's dad was was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia at the end of last year and his family have been raising money for the charity ever since. The trust managed to help Louise's father, when he was told he could only have weeks or a few months to live and he is now in remission.

Louise's family have raised money in many various ways, from participating in the Race for Life to her daughter running a handmade bracelet stall, and now Louise feels it's her turn to do something really spectacular.

This marathon will be a challenge for Lou, as she says she 'can't run!' But I'm behind her all the way. She is a real inspiration and the charity means so much to her for helping save her father's life.

If you want to help Louise, please look for her on Instagram or find her fundraising page here

She is currently selling raffle tickets to raise money at a pound each. And let me tell you, the prizes are really something special! Some gorgeous ladies of Instagram have donated some of their handmade items to Louise for her to giveaway in the raffle. I've just bought my tickets, so how about you buy yours? Good luck if you do! And good luck to Louise, you will be amazing and I know your dad will be incredibly proud of you.

Lots of love readers,

Welcome to The Fox's Burrow!

Well hello there! Welcome to The Fox's Burrow. Grab a cuppa, put your feet up and take a look around. Ok, well there's not too much to look at yet - but I promise there will be!

So firstly, thank you very much for coming along to this blog and for reading my first post. Do you like my foxy logo? It was designed by my beautiful friend Cara and her boyfriend Chris - I'm such a lucky girl!

So, what about me? My name is Kerry and I am 26 years old. Here I am -

If you're wondering where my beautiful dress is from, it's from the lovely Jackie at Polkadots and Petticoats. I love pretty dresses, with patterns such as flowers and birds, anything rather girly!

I live in the glorious city of Norwich with my boyfriend Gareth. We have a cosy little flat together, with plenty of space for crafting. Crafting is a real passion of mine, and I'll try absolutely anything. I particularly enjoy crochet, but I'm a humble beginner. I also enjoy creating items from shrink plastic, especially my 'Wild Bunny' brooches.

Well I'll keep this introduction brief. Thank you again for taking the time to read my launch post and I hope to see you back again soon! Please click the follow button at the left side and share with all your friends. Let me also know about your wonderful blogs please!

Lots of Love,
Kerry xxx
